Hey, Hi, Hello!I'm Jamie. I'm a self declared basic girl, obsessed with Taylor Swift, llamas, and floral prints, and I love to be in the kitchen. Cooking and baking are therapeutic for me. I look forward to putting aside the stresses of my day and focusing completely on creating something delicious to enjoy and share with the people I love. I particularly love the challenge of creating vegan and allergen friendly desserts and entrees.
I have a coconut allergy and a dairy sensitivity and consider myself to be a sometimes vegan. I know firsthand the disappointment of having to give up your favorite foods upon discovering your allergy. I believe that food should be enjoyed, and I seek to create new versions of my favorite recipes that open up more opportunities for everyone, regardless of their food and eating preferences or needs. |
Intuitive Eating
I am also an advocate for the practice of intuitive eating. This concept means that you listen to the signals your body gives you through feelings, thoughts, and cravings, and honor those signals by feeding your body what it wants and not restricting or limiting yourself based on perceived rules about eating. Many people are unhappy because of their disordered relationships with food. I spent much of my life hating my body because of it's cravings and tendencies. I developed a list of rules in my mind about which foods were good and which were bad, which could be eaten at which times of day and in what quantities. After a long time of nurturing these bad habits, I became exhausted. Making decisions about what to eat was a huge challenge for me because it was hard to find meals that fit in with all of my requirements.
Discovering intuitive eating was liberating. It took time for me to unlearn my rules and teach my body that it could be trusted, but the time was well spent. I learned how to trust myself again, and how to listen to what I truly wanted. I found myself craving things like crisp carrots and tofu sour cream. I allowed myself to try all kinds of new things and made peace with food.
Eating is about so much more than just fueling your body. Food brings satisfaction, comfort, joy, and nourishment for our bodies and our hearts. This is something I am deeply passionate about.

Cooking Experience
I started cooking when I was 9 years old and my grandmother bought me a cookbook for my birthday. It came with a magic spoon that claimed to transform your recipes into magic creations. Even as a child, I loved to experiment and make dishes that were bigger than the recipe. I hated being limited by someone else's ideas and always wanted to tweak recipes just enough to make them my own. Since then I have devoted time and effort to understanding both the art and the science of cooking. It's fascinating to explore how flavors and texture interact together to create something amazing.
Food brings people together and is a way to show your love. I enjoy creating food to share with the people close to me. I hope my recipes can help you create the same type of gathering experience with your loved ones. Thanks for following along!
